A design rights protection gives the owner the exclusive right to the design of a drawing or a model. Decorated wallpaper and the shape of a chair for example, can both have design rights protection. A design shall receive protection only insofar as the design is novel and has individual character. The appearance of a product or a part of a product shall be regarded as a design. The exclusive right to a design shall be acquired by registration of the filing with the competent authorities.

The development of a model is usually very time consuming and energy-draining. It is very usefull to register predesigns with CC Proof. When the design is finished, design right protection may be acquired.
